If you've been following us on Facebook and Instagram, you already know how excited we are about our flock of critically endangered Florida Cracker sheep! Sheep reach sexual maturity between 4-6 months of age. The meat that we refer to as "lamb" is harvested when the sheep is one year old and 100% full grown. Therefore, when you purchase pasture-raised lamb meat from our farm, you are purchasing an adult ram who is 1 year of age. The ewe lambs born on the farm are kept to restore the flock, while a single proven ram (an aggressive gent usually well over 2 years old) is kept for the breeding and guarding of those ewes.
